Our Review of the BH Fitness Duke Magnetic Indoor CycleHow Easy is the Indoor Cycle to Build? We built the Duke Magnetic indoor cycle within a matter of minutes. Attach the stabiliser bars, handle bars, console, seat and pedals and you're ready to go. Very simple. What are the first impressions? A fantastic indoor cycle. The quality of the bike is superb with excellent detailing on all aspects of the bike. What's it like to ride? The BH Fitness Duke Magnetic gives a really smooth ride - all down to the belt drive which is also very quiet. The magnetic resistance works really well and reduces the noise even further - no friction means no noise!! The console is very good and gives some good feedback about how you are performing in your training. If you have a chest belt you can also monitor your heart rate - however, you should note that the chest belt is not included. When pedalling hard the bike feels very stable and gives a good feel of being able to handle the most vigorous workout.Any niggles? The resistance selector lever can be a bit fiddly but once you're used to it then this niggle soon goes away. It would have been nice to have a chest belt included in order to make the most of the console - but this is not the end of the world and it's still a great bike to use. If you want to monitor your heartrate a chest belt can be purchasef for about £30.Anything else to add? A nice feature of this bike is the pedals which can be used with cycling shoes or normal training shoes.Overall Impression? Fantastic quality bike. Great to ride - very smooth and the magnetic resistance adds to the overall experience. A top quality indoor cycle, equally at home in a domestic residence or a spinning class.
Do you have a question about the BH Fitness Duke Magnetic Indoor Cycle?
If you can't find the answer that you're looking for below then please click here and ask us a question. If we're online we'll give you an answer immediately, otherwise we'll try our best to respond on the same working day.
Cycle Specific Questions Q. I want a heavy duty bike that shows Watts on the console. What should I buy? A. The BH Fitness Duke Magnetic shows Watts on the console and is a full commercial bike. This is designed for heavy use and display Watts on the console in addition to the level of resistance that you're working to.
How is the resistance changed on this bike? A. There's a lever positioned on the frame that you move to increase or decrease the resistance. As you move the level the level of resistance that you're working to changes on the console.
Q. I've seen a chain driven bike for the same price - why should I buy a belt drive bike? A. We always recommend buying a belt driven bike. They're quieter, cleaner and require less maintenance. Unless you like covering yourself in oil and frequently maintaining your bike, then avoid a chain bike and buy a belt drive.
Q. Do the pedals take SPD cleats? A. Yes. You can use this bike with cycling shoes.
General Questions Q. Is this bike difficult to assemble? A. No - instructions are included and we cover the build in our review of the bike as well. Just pay particular attention to attaching the pedals correctly.
Q. Can you assemble the bike for me? A. Yes. We can deliver the bike fully assembled. We will pack/wrap the bike for transportation but can't accept liability for any damage that is caused whilst the bike is in transit. Alternatively, we can arrange for a technician to visit your home to build the bike for you at an additional cost (please ask for current prices).
Q. Do I need a mat underneath the bike? A. We recommend that you have a mat underneath your indoor cycle to protect the floor but it's entirely up to you.
Q. Do you sell second hand or refurbished bikes? A. Generally not. Unfortunately it's not cost effective for us to refurbish indoor cycles to a standard that would be in keeping with our reputation. To fully refurbish an indoor cycle, the crank; crank arms; flywheel bearings; drive belt; pedals; seat and handlebars all need to be replaced. In addition, the frame needs to be checked for corrosion and distortion. In doing this work to the correct standard, the price of a fully refurbished indoor bike would be about the same as a new one. It's for this reason that we don't normally offer refurbished or second hand bikes for sale, and we strongly recommend that you fully understand how a bike has been refurbished before buying one.

Great Bike For My Home Gym. I was not sure which spinning bike to go for but Andy was really helpful and explained that for my uses the BH Duke Magnetic would be the best choice. I am pleased to say he wasn't wrong. I put the bike together in about 20 minutes and got straight on it. It is very quite and has a solid build. Thnx (12/03/2013) Lucy - Billingham

Great bike and fantastic service We initially ordered another bike which wasn't available so Andy called up, suggested this bike and 2 days later it was in our gym. It wasn't too hard to put up (coming from a girl) and is a really smooth ride. We had a small technical issue but Andy has been really helpful in sorting it out. Thanks (13/02/2013) Barbra - Chorley
